The West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) wishes to invite the members of the scientific community, academia, policymakers and the general public to a research dissemination webinar onJune 8th, 2022, at12.30 pm.
The purpose of the webinar is to present and discuss the results of our ongoing research on seroprevalence and genomic surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 in Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria over the last two years. The studies will present data from over 20,000 participants and represent the most comprehensive analysis of seroprevalence and genetic diversity of SARS-CoV-2 in West Africa to date. The work also represents the combined efforts of an extensive group of both private and public health institutions across the three countries. The collaborating institutions that partnered with WACCBIP to undertake these studies include the African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID), Groupe de Recherche Action Santé (GRAS), the African Center of Excellence for Biotechnical Innovations for the Elimination of Vector-borne Diseases (CEA/ITECH-MTV), and the African Centre of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP). The study was made possible with funding support from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom (FCDO), Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD).
Due to the regional character of the studies -involving francophone partners, there will be a simultaneous interpretation of the webinar in both French and English languages.
All persons who wish to attend the webinar can register here.
