On October 25, West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) received a visit from a delegation of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) delegation led by their new component head, Viktor Siebert, accompanied by Jasper Sablah, Head of Component, Support to Vaccine Manufacturing in Ghana and David Acheampong, Technical Advisor for GIZ Ghana.
As part of the visit, GIZ donated two microscopes to enhance WACCBIP’s annual Senior High School outreach programmes, which provide students with hands-on learning experiences.
The donation, aimed at fostering interest in science, reflects GIZ’s commitment to promoting education and empowering future generations through practical exposure to research.During the meeting, Dr. Peter Quashie, Deputy Direct welcomed the team, with Dr. Lucas Amenga-Etego, Dr. Yaw Aniweh, and Ms. Kyerewaa Boateng joining the discussions.
The WACCBIP faculty shared insights on their workshops and suggested ideas aligned with GIZ’s PharmaVax programme Ms. Boateng also provided an overview of the Centre’s engagement efforts with Senior High Schools, which are led by graduate interns.
Following the discussions, the GIZ team toured WACCBIP’s laboratories to gain a deeper understanding of the Centre’s research infrastructure and activities.
