We are looking for a highly motivated Research Project Manager to join the Ghana team of the NIHR Global Health Research Group on Establishing Regional Hubs for Genomic Surveillance in West Africa, at the Wellcome Sanger Institute.
The successful candidate will be based at the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP), University of Ghana, Legon. This project is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research, UK, and aims at expanding capacity for genomic surveillance of malaria parasites and mosquito vectors in West Africa, and to generate essential information required for NMCPs to plan sustainable interventions.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Project Manager will provide comprehensive operational and administrative support to the PI and ensure delivery of the programme’s goals. This role involves liaising with key stakeholders, including international partners on the project. The successful candidate will also support the organization of field operations and workshops. The Research Project Manager will be required to prepare and present regular project status reports.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Minimum of Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related subject area, with at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in project management will be highly advantageous
- Fluency in both English and French.
- Be charismatic, dynamic, confident, have excellent writing skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate in cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Exceptional skills in customer service/stakeholder relations.
- Strong attention to details and accuracy.
